Phyllis’ family roots are in the Bismarck community, graduating from Bismarck High School, returning to teach there in 2010, and eventually retiring from there in 2024.

Her background includes a Bachelor of Science and Master's degrees from Southwestern Assemblies of God University (now Nelson University) with degrees in Christian Education, Early Childhood Education, School Counseling, and School Administration.

She enjoys meeting people, helping them through the various chapters of life, and pointing out the perks of small-town living.
